Dr. Dilip Rangarajan is the Head of Nephrology at NU hospitals. He has graduated from the prestigious Madras Medical College. He completed his MBBS in 1985 and joined MD – General Medicine at Madras Medical college in 1987 after topping the entrance exam. His career in Nephrology began in 1990 and he obtained his qualification of DNB(Nephrology) in 1994 from Madras Medical College. He started and developed the Nephrology unit at Sundaram Medical Foundation – Chennai in 1994 and was the Head of the Nephrology unit there till 2001. He took over as the Head of the Nephrology unit at NU Hospitals, Bengaluru in February 2001 and has been instrumental in developing the department since then. He has established protocolised practice in nephrology and has trained DNB nephrology students and also has been appraiser for DNB internal exams for nephrology students at Manipal Hospitals, Bangalore. He has vast experience in handling critical care nephrology patients, renal transplantation and patients with combined nephrological and urological problems. Along with his team of nephrologists and urologists he has established sound infection control practices in the institution .Safety practices in haemodialysis is another highlight in the department.
